CC:  Engage the students in a discussion about weathering. Solicit student explanations of how soil is formed and what it may be composed of.

CC:  If a computer is available, the students can generate a spreadsheet graph to analyze the observed occurrences of mechanical and chemical weathering and draw a schoolyard map to identify the locations of observed weathering.

 

Use Microsoft Excel software to make a chart and graph for recording.  All students have to do is type in the numbers, and the graph will fill in itself.
