Unit 2 Laughing Out Loud - Humorous Fiction/Essays

Activity 6:  Writing a Humorous Anecdote (GLEs: 15d, 17a, 17b, 17c, 17d, 18a, 18b, 18c, 18d, 18e, 18f, 18g, 21, 23, 24a, 25b, 25c)

 

 

CC: Students will prewrite by using sources of inspiration (e.g., journal, family and friends, photos, biographies) for brainstorming possible topics for anecdotes.

 

Use Inspiration to create a brainstorming activity for sources of inspiration for a humorous anecdote.

CC:  Students will demonstrate their ability to use properly literary devices (e.g., types of irony, exaggerations, understatements, allusions), comparative and superlative adjectives (following a teacher minilesson, if needed), and varied sentence structure as will as demonstrate appropriate command of grammar, sage, mechanics, and spelling.  Students will use self-peer-evaluation to edit, revise, and produce a final draft, using available technology.  Students will receive feedback through a rubric.

Use MS Word to create a checklist for students evaluate his/her humorous anecdote.
