Unit 5:  Ecosystems

Activity 5:  In Balance (GLEs:  1, 2, 12, 22, 72)

CC: Students will choose a plant or animal, native to Louisiana that is considered threatened or endangered.  See website at the LA Dept of Wildlife & Fisheries (LWLF) available at http://www.wlf.state.la.us/apps/netgear/index.asp?cn=lawlf&pid=693.   (* This is an original link from the Comprehensive Curriculum which has been changed. Other links are provided below.)  Using multimedia resources, the students will explore the habitats and any adaptations that caused or might cause the organism to become endangered and also which might help it to recover, if it has. Based on available information and resources, students will predict what human activities or actions will impact the population of the animal in question. Students will draw conclusions about the consequences of these actions and conditions for the organism.

*When you go to the LDWF site you have to click on the Experience Wildlife tab at the top of the page to get to the endangered & threatened page.
