Unit 3: Developing Multiplication and Division Activity 5: Collect and Compute (GLEs: 4, 10, 14, 19)
CC: Create a scenario where students collect aluminum cans for recycling. Set a goal for the allotted collection time period. Have students record the number of cans collected each day and multiply by the amount paid for each (e.g., 7 cans נ7?). Have students repeat the calculation for each day of the week. Create a classroom chart. Have students calculate how many more cans are needed to reach their goal.
