Activity 12: Let's Take a Trip (GLEs: 12, 13, 14, 23)

CC:  Have students use the computer to plan a trip to a specific location. Ask them to compare the prices of airlines, trains, and buses and to determine the amount of time that will elapse during their travel.  Have them make a travel log giving what they will see, what time they will arrive/leave, and estimate how much time will elapse between their activities. Finally, have them make a table or list of their travel expenses, not forgetting souvenirs.

You may use sights such as Travelocity ( http://www.travelocity.com ), or Priceline (http://www.priceline.com ) to compare rates.  Check sites prior to the lesson for inappropriate advertising!

You may want to go ahead and choose the departure and arrival cities so you can preview the sites that the students will have to visit.  Use the following page as a reproducible chart for travel log and expenses.
