CC:  The teacher will introduce explicit models of nonfiction for students, demonstrating how to examine elements of nonfiction texts in order to:

  • learn the author's sources

  • distinguish the author's purpose for writing and its influence on the organization of the text

  • distinguish fact from opinion

  • determine the accuracy of the information

  • determine how style and language make the work interesting
