Activity 6:  Sounds of Poetry (GLEs: 06, 12, 19b

CC:  Another way to train the student's ear for poetry is to introduce the following poetic terms:

• Alliteration - repetition of initial consonant sounds

• Consonance - repetition of final consonant sounds

• Assonance - repetition of vowel sounds

• Onomatopoeia - use of words that imitate the sound of what they denote

Use PowerPoint to create a presentation of the poetic terms.
