Activity 2:  Use My Senses (GLEs:  22, 23b, 25)

CC:  The teacher shows students a travel poster or appealing scene from a travel magazine. Students are asked to brainstorm a list of highly descriptive vocabulary to describe the picture, utilizing all of the senses. The teacher models and coaches as students use the word list to write sentences describing the scene.

NOTE: Unitedstreaming provides 'Writing Prompts' under 'Learning Tools' that could be used for this activity.  Also, appropriate images can be accessed using a keyword search with terms such as jungle, mountains, etc. Images can be shown to students using a presentation device or printed.
