Technology Enhancing Curriculum in the 21st Century (TEC21) Technology Enhancing Curriculum in the 21st Century (TEC21) is a professional development program designed to incorporate the use of technology within the curriculum at every level of instruction. During the course, teachers will learn how digital tools (cameras, presentation software, computing equipment) and online resources can support and enhance traditional subjects, skills and teaching practices. They will also learn how to integrate technology into the core content, incorporate real world problems and utilize digital tools and resources that enhance learning goals. As a result, students will learn to think and work creatively and collaboratively. The face to face course consists of six units which are taught over an eight week period for three hours each week. During each class, the instructor will model the effective use of technology tools and resources adopted by the district and engage teachers in activities from the Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum, the District Scope and Sequence, and the Framework for 21st Century Learning. Course Topics: 1. Leadership and Responsibility (Week 1) 2. Information Literacy (Week 2) 3. Multi-Media Technologies (Weeks 3 and 4) 4. Web 2.0 Tools (Weeks 5 and 6) 5. Interactive Teaching and Learning (Week 7) 6. Sharing Our Toolkit (Week 8)
Teachers who complete the course will receive a computer, printer and software (if their computer is older than 3 years) and will become eligible to participate in the RenewTech program. They will also receive 48 CLUs. If you are eligible to participate in RenewTech , this course will allow you to complete the requirement to receive new equipment.
