The Instructional Technology Department wishes to thank all of the teachers who participated in the first annual Lesson Plan Contest. And the creative winners were:
Mary Ann Hales
- 1st Place - $100 prize,
Becky Conley - 2nd Place - $50 prize,
Toni Giffen - 3rd Place - $25 prize.
Hales is a Pre-K teacher at Lexington Elementary. Her lesson, Mitten Mania, was designed for Pre-K - 1st grade students. Skills targeted included sequencing of events, using listening skills, and vocabulary development. The lesson uses online resources as well as KidPix2 and KidWorks2.
Conley is an art teacher at Wossman High School. Kaleidoscope Drawing was the title of her art lesson for 9-12 students. Numerous illustrations were provided for the lesson as well as detailed instructions to design a kaleidoscope. Online resources and a drawing application provided the technology tie-in.
Giffen teaches first grade at Berg Jones Elementary. The title of her lesson was Life Cycle of a Butterfly. From online butterfly color sheets to online butterfly games, the lesson utilizes a variety of online resources to teach young ones about the butterfly life cycle
Honorable Mention was awarded to three
teachers. They were:
Rhonda Davis - Wossman High - "Dietary
Guidelines for Good Nutrition,"
Gayle Madison - Lincoln Elementary - Farm Animals: Cows, Sheep, Pigs, Horses,"
Carla Walters - Berg Jones - "My Body: The Five Senses."
Each teacher received a copy of Classroom Connect's The Online Classroom.
