E-curriculum Systems In spring 2002, the Monroe City Schools Technology Committee began the process of selecting a new integrated learning system for the district instructional computer labs. Various vendors were invited to demonstrate their products. The criteria of a highly interactive, standards-based system were best met by NCS Pearson for both elementary and high school students. SuccessMaker was selected for elementary and junior high schools, and NovaNet was selected for the three high schools. The programs were installed during the summer of 2003.
SuccessMaker provides 6,000 hours of standards-based reading/language arts, mathematics, and English language development/ESL curriculum. Science and social studies lessons are incorporated into the math and reading curriculum. The SuccessMaker management system allows teachers to correlate a lesson to district curriculum guides as well as the state content standards thereby ensuring that students are mastering the skills targeted by high-stakes testing.
Designed for grades 6-12, NovaNET is a comprehensive, online courseware system that delivers thousands of hours of research and standards-based, interactive curriculum. Instruction in both required and elective courses as well as test preparation is presented in interactive, self-paced, multi-media lessons. Correlation to state and national standards and standardized tests allows the curriculum to be customized in order to provide targeted instruction.
