Find a Word, Microsoft Word

Save different newspaper articles from the Internet.  Use the File menu, Save As.

Have the students open the articles in Microsoft Word.  Open Microsoft Word.  Click File, Open.  Navigate to your saved newspaper article and open it.  Select the Highlighter tool.  Assign each pair of students a different highlighter color.

Have students use the Highlighter to mark a given common word (i.e. the, to, said, etc.) in their article.  (You use the highlighter by dragging the mouse across the word you wish to highlight.)  After the student has found "their" word, they can swap newspaper articles with their partner.  The students could then compare how many times "their" words were used in the article.
