Title:  Getting to Know You
Subject:  Mathematics
Grade Level:  2 - 5
Overview:
The students will get acquainted with their classmates by asking them certain questions about themselves. Then they will graph the information.
Approximate Duration:  60 minutes/2 class periods

         In problem-solving investigations, students discover trends, formulate conjectures regarding cause-and-effect relationships, and demonstrate critical thinking skills in order to make informed decisions.

Background Information:
The students should be able to collect data, analyze data and create a bar graph.
Lesson Procedures:
1.Discuss the getting to know you worksheet.

2.Each student will have 15 minutes to interview their classmates.

3.Each worksheet must be completely filled in.

4.The students will then cut apart the information into strips and classify them according to the
question and place them into brown paper bags.

5.The students will be paired up and will be given a brown bag of information.

6.The group will collect their data.

7.The teacher will model using graph club and review how to create a bar graph.

8.The student will create a bar graph using graph club.

9.The student will present their graphs to the class.

10.The student will create a circle graph on the computer.

11.The student will write a narrative on KidPix about their category.
Assessment Procedures:
The bar graph will be assessed using the rubric.

The students will use KidPix to write a creative paragraph about their topic.
