Title:  French er Verbs

Overview:
The students will be learning to conjugate and use the first group of French verbs, the –er verbs, and establishing a pen pal through technology
Approximate Duration:  five to seven fifty-minute class periods
Content Standards:

         Students present, through oral and written communications, information, concepts, and ideas on a variety of topics to an audience of listeners or readers with whom there is no immediate personal contact or in a one-to-many mode.

         Students demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the practices (patterns of social interactions) and perspectives (meanings, attitudes, values, ideas) of the target cultures.

         In learning environmental science, students will develop an appreciation of the natural environment, learn the importance of environmental quality, and acquire a sense of stewardship. As consumers and citizens, they will be able to recognize how our personal, professional, and political actions affect the natural world.

Find an online pen pal and construct a conversation using these verbs, previous vocabulary and grammatical structures
Present to the class what they have learned about their pen pal
And compare/contrast differences with his/her own city/culture

Lesson Procedures:
1. Start-up activity using question/answer with structure “Est que-ce que tu aimes…”
2. Video of –er verbs and basic conjugation
3. Transparency of some –er verbs to be used along with TPR demonstrations
and explanations
4. Textbook exercises
5. HW sheet handout then review of lesson
6. Assign students web site and handout for conversation, finding pen pal site and directions for presentation, then monitor students.
