| Overview:

| The purpose of this lesson is to have students select a well-known
designer and research his/her career. Students will complete a
biographical profile of the designer and provide pictures or
illustrations of their best known designs. |

Duration: 3 classes (50 minutes each) |

1. Choose a famous fashion designer and research his/her life and
fashion influence using the Internet.
2. Prepare a portfolio of the designer's best known
illustrations/sketches.
3. Use a word processing program on the computer to write a brief
biographical profile of his/her chosen designer. |

Information:
Students should have a basic knowledge of the Internet and should know
how to use search engines to conduct research. Students will need to
know about the contributions of fashion designers to the clothing
industry. |
Lesson
Procedures:
1. Introduction of Computer Project
2. Pass out a list of fashion designers and allow students to choose
one designer to research.
3. Explain instructions for researching the designer and for writing
the report.
4. Assist students with computer research.
5. Assist students with writing their report.
6. Presentation of reports by students.
7. Conclusion

Assessment
Procedures:
1. The teacher will use a rubric to grade student's reports.
2. Students will evaluate each other during oral presentations using
teacher-made checklist.
3. Grades will be calculated by adding the teacher's score and the
average score received from the student's classmates. |
Accommodations/Modifications:
Students who lack computer skills will be paired with more
knowledgeable students for group assignment.
