Overview:
This lesson plan is designed to accompany daily cross-curriculum instruction and independent on-line computer activities to help students learn to recognize basic colors.
Approximate Duration: 3 Weeks Computer Center - 45 minutes

3. The learner will create a favorite color drawing using a transparency to trace in KidPix.
4. The learner will create a page in an Electronic Class Book Power Point Presentation.
5. The learner will create a favorite color class graph.

Background Information:
The learner is using the computer for basically the first time. They will have very little knowledge of how to use the mouse and have almost no technology skills. They will need one-on-one direction in performing the required skills.Lesson Procedures:
Objective #1
1. The learner will listen to four computer stories, "Rainbow Colors," "The Yellow House,"
"What Do I Say?" and "I Love Colors."Objective #2
1. The learner will move colors around in pictures using an interactive CD-ROM entitled "Busy Little Brains."Objective #3
1. The learner will select a transparency of a favorite outline drawing.
2. The learner will use the mouse to trace the transparency outline and use Kidpix to fill in with favorite color or colors.
3. The learner will print drawing and add it to personal portfolio "All About Me" folder. Also print drawing for a class book.Objective #4
1. The learner will identify their name from class list and follow instructions to type first name in class book using Power Point.
2. The learner will choose favorite color word from color word chart and follow instructions to type name of favorite color (change color of word) in class book using Power Point.
3. The learner will save favorite color picture
for slide page in the class Power Point presentation book.
4. The learner will print picture and add to personal "All About Me" portfolio folder.Objective #5
1. The learner choose favorite color and add his/her name to pie graph.
2. The learner will add color graph to "Class Graphs" folder.
Assessment Procedures:
1. Teacher observation during the independent center activities- students completing favorite color drawing, page in Class Book
Power Point Presentation, and addition to Favorite Color Class Graph.
2. Rubric evaluations for favorite color drawing, page in Power Point Presentation, and addition to Favorite Color Class Graph.
Accommodations/Modifications:
1. Students needing additional instruction can receive one-on-one tutoring during early morning individualized instruction each day.
2. Students with exceptional needs will be paired with more advanced students so that they can gain confidence in using the mouse and computer in order to learn new skills.
