MINUTES

August 13, 2007

The Monroe City School Board met in a special call meeting, Monday, August 13, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. at the Monroe City School Board Central Office, 2101 Roselawn Avenue, Monroe, Louisiana 71201. The meeting was called to order by the President. Prayer was offered by Mr. Handy. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited in unison.

Item 4: Roll Call

Agenda Item 5: Adoption of the Agenda

On a motion by Mrs. Shelling that was seconded by Mrs. Smith, the Board adopted the agenda as printed.

The motion carried on a unanimous vote.

Action Item 6 - The President's Report and Announcements

No announcements from the President.

Action Item 7: Executive Session

It was moved by Mr. Handy and seconded by Mr. Traweek to convene into executive session for a period not to exceed 15 minutes to discuss pending litigation in the following cases:

1.) Mahan - vs. - Monroe City School Board (No. 2003-4323, 4th Judicial Court - Parish of Ouachita)

2.) Walker - vs. Monroe City School Board (No. 2004-4323 4th Judicial Court -
Parish of Ouachita)

The motion carried on a unanimous vote.

Mr. Handy left the meeting at 12:15 p.m.

Action Item 8 - Reconvene

On a motion by Rev. McFarland that was seconded by Mrs. Smith the Board reconvened into open session at 12:25 p.m.

The motion carried on a unanimous vote.

Action Item 8:A - Addition to the Agenda

It was moved by Mrs. Smith and seconded by Mr. Traweek, to add Action Item 8:A (Resolution to request a jury trial) to the agenda.

The motion carried on a unanimous vote.

Resolution to Request a Jury Trial

On a motion by Mr. Traweek that was seconded by Mrs. Smith, the Board adopted a resolution that specifically waive the statutory prohibitions against a jury trial and request, authorize and direct counsel for the Monroe City School Board to request a jury trial in the lawsuit entitled "Nancy Walker and Dennis L. Walker versus Coregis Insurance Company, et al, Civil Suit No. 04-4323 on the docket of the 4th Judicial District Court, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana". (See addendum for resolution)

The motion carried on a unanimous vote.

Action Item 9 - Adjournment

On a motion by Rev. McFarland that was seconded by Mrs. Smith, the Board adjourned at 12:30 p.m.

The motion carried on a unanimous vote of members present.
