MINUTES

July 8, 2004

The Monroe City School Board met in regular session on Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at the Monroe City School Board Media Center, 2009 Auburn Avenue, Monroe, Louisiana 71201.  The meeting was called to order by the President.  Prayer was offered by Reverend Rodney McFarland.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited in unison.

Administrators, employees, parents, representatives from professional organizations, and the news media were in attendance.

Action Item 4:

Adoption of the Agenda and the Addendum:

On a motion by Mr. Cain that was seconded by Mrs. Smith, the Board adopted the agenda and the addendum as recommended by Dr. Cannon. The motion carried on a unanimous vote of members present.

The President's Report and Announcements:

President Handy thanked the public and the news media for their support of the Monroe City School System.

Information/ Comprehensive Medical Magnet Specialty Program: Dr. Cannon briefed the Action public on the proposed improvements in the medical program at Carroll High School. Miss Maria Maggio presented Mr. Corey Denton, who introduced the proposed comprehensive medical magnet specialty program for Carroll High School.

On a motion by Mr. Cain that was seconded by Reverend McFarland, the Board approved the Comprehensive Medical Magnet Specialty Program for Carroll High School as presented by Mr. Denton and recommended by Dr. Cannon.

Report Item 8:

Principalship at Wossman High School: Dr. Cannon recommended Mr. Sam Moore for the principalship at Wossman High School, effective July 30, 2004. The Board will ratify Mr. Moore's position at the next board meeting.

Action Items 9A through 10B:

Personnel Changes:

Mrs. Bobbie Hamilton asked the Board to delay action of agenda item 9F (16). Action will be taken at a later date.

Dr. Cannon recommended approval of all personnel changes with the deletion of item 9F (16) as listed in the agenda.
