Parents:

IF YOU SAID "YES" TO ANY OF THESE QUESTIONS,
EPATT IS FOR YOU!

Empowering Parents as Teachers Too - "On the Road to Success" is dedicated to aiding students, parents and guardians with learning at home.  We believe parents are the first teachers and the best teacher for their children.  EPATT provides educational activities and materials for parents to enhance learning.  It also provides assistance with parenting skills and family literacy.

The EPATT program was created for parents and guardians who want to enhance learning at home but do not have transportation or the means of getting help.  EPATT sponsors a mobile unit that reaches out to parents by going to designated schools each weekday to provide learning materials and activities for parents and children (grades 1 - 6).

EPATT has served the community for several years and during this time, has grown tremendously.  Parents, community agencies, and organizations eagerly await EPATT to announce activities and workshops so that they may participate.  The parents express how much they love the activities and workshops openly by video tape or evaluation.

The Monroe City Schools EPATT Program uses an innovative "I Care" Positive Parenting & Mentoring Curriculum to guide parents in helping their child(ren) with academics at home.  The "I Care" Positive Parenting & Mentoring Curriculum Parenting Activity Sheet and Feedback Form are distributed to parents at all elementary schools in the district during the first week of each month.  An "I Care" Bear is given to the teacher and her class at each school who has the most "I Care" Feedback Forms returned and the most parenting activities completed.  Patrick, the huge Monroe City Schoolwide "I Care" Bear is delivered to the school with the most parenting activities completed during the month.

EPATT sponsors a fun-filled learning experience for the whole family called "Family Saturday Morning Out".  This event is held at various elementary schools in the Monroe City School District.  "Family Saturday Morning Out" provides workshop sessions such as aerobics, math, study skills, and reading for parents to aide them with learning at home. Workshop sessions are also provided for children ages 3 - 12, including dance/movement, arts and crafts, storytelling, and other activities conducted by various community organizations.
