Mission
The Ouachita Council on Aging, Inc./AAA,
the state designated Area Agency on Aging for the Ouachita Parish
Planning and Service Area, is responsible for carrying out a wide
range of functions relative to advocacy, planning, coordination,
inter-agency linkage, information sharing, brokering, monitoring,
and evaluation designed to lead to the development or enhancement
of comprehensive and coordinated community based system to serve
all areas in Ouachita Parish.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers from the community assist
with each of the programs provided by the Ouachita Council on
Aging.
Wellness
Activities are designed to provide
services which will support and/or improve the older persons mental
and/or physical well being, e.g., exercise/physical fitness, health
screening, and medications management.
Policies
Activities and services of the Ouachita
Council on Aging are open to senior citizens 60 years of age and
older of Ouachita Parish without regard to race, color, religion,
or national origin.
The Ouachita Council on Aging cannot
serve at its senior centers and satellite sites those individuals
who have a contagious disease or who are dangerous to themselves
and/or others.
The Ouachita Council on Aging cannot
serve at its senior centers and satellite sites those individuals
who are bedridden, are severe wanderers, require continuous one-on-one
monitoring, or who require assistance to utilize bathroom facilities
unless such individuals provide their own competent attendants.
These persons are eligible for in-home services provided directly
by the Ouachita Council on Aging or its contractors.

The Ouachita
Council on Aging site is sponsored and maintained by the Monroe City
Schools Instructional Technology as a service to the community.
