Novice House, Inc. is a short-term, shelter care, residential facility for juveniles in crisis, pending a 72 hours hearing. It is licensed by the State of Louisiana, Department of Social Services to house 12 youth, both male and female, between the ages of 11 and 17 years.

Novice House is contracted with the State of Louisiana, Department of Public Safety and Corrections. The residential facility, which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week is located at 806 Standifer Street. The Administrative Office building is located at 800 Standifer Street. Office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.

The staff of Novice House consists of an Administrator/Social Worker; a Program Director; an Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper; Secretary; Direct Care Workers working 24 hours a day; a Cook Supervisor; and a Maintenance Worker. Several consultants are on call and an Educational Coordinator is available to help meet the educational needs of the youth.
