Can You Spell...?
On Friday, March 3, 48 students from across Ouachita Parish competed in the Scripps-Howard All-Parish Spelling Bee, sponsored by The News-Star. It was a tough competition with four spellers going 20+ rounds never missing a word. It all came down to the word “tabard” to determine the winner, but words such as usufructuary, douane, and many harder words (if that’s possible) kept the spellers on their toes and the bee rolling along for approximately four hours. Monroe City Schools would like to congratulate all of our competitive spellers. They all did a great job!
